Baby Shower Etiquette is Something
That is Often Overlooked
When you're planning a baby shower, baby shower etiquette is
very important to know.
While it might seem to be something that is outdated, baby shower etiquette is actually a great way to make sure that all of the guests feel included and respected at the actual shower.
Because many showers include a wide range of backgrounds and upbringings, it can be a great idea to learn the basics of baby shower etiquette. This allows the older generations to know what is going to happen and how they should behave. By being the example, you can be sure that everyone will feel right at home.
In terms of who should be invited, baby shower etiquette has varied in how it responds to this question. The best way to approach this is to invite all of the female friends of the expectant mother as well as the female relatives. While it's not expected that they all attend, be sure to invite everyone as a show of the bonds that are between the mom and these women.
When a person is invited to a baby shower, baby shower etiquette does insist that baby shower gifts are brought for the expectant mother in celebration of her bundle of joy. While they need not be extravagant, you may want to be sure to purchase items from the mom's registry (if there is one) or speak with other guests about chipping in to buy a larger present.
For the mom, thank you cards are not indicated in baby shower etiquette as the mom will already have thanked guests that have attended. However, most guests appreciate the extra time that a baby shower thank you note takes, as they spent their time coming to the shower and giving a gift to the new mom.
A nice thing for the baby shower planner to do is handle these notes for the new mom. By simply printing out a basic note and having the mom include a short line to personalize it, you have given the expectant mom one less thing to do.
